2019 helped fully recover from a 2018 that had been more than gloomy for the international financial markets. 2019 was mainly driven by the trade war between the United States and China, but the markets globally held their ground and allowed us to end December with remarkable figures, which we are pleased to present to you today (figures as of 31/12/2019).
We pay particular attention to our Defensive portfolio, for which in the past we have expressed dissatisfaction with its results. During the second quarter of 2019, we redesigned its allocation and are pleased to report very encouraging performance for 2019. Indeed, our Defensive portfolio ended the year at +6,48% profitability.
Let’s invest responsibly
Following through on our commitment, we have extended responsible investing to the entire Birdee portfolio range in 2019. Indeed, we decided to make this subject a central element of our management, in order to propose strategies in line with the ever-increasing expectations of our users. We thus strive to maximise the presence of so-called "responsible" products, while respecting the highest performance and risk standards, and under the constraint of the availability of these alternative products. At Birdee, we consider a fund or ETF to be responsible when it adopts a management style that complies with ESG1 (Environmental, Social & Governance) criteria and is labelled SRI2 (Socially Responsible Investment), and/or Toward-Sustainability (Febelfin)3, pending a label at the European level.
“Make money a better support for what comes next”
Our mission is to offer everyone access to the world of investment, regardless of their level of investment knowledge. You will probably have noticed the redesign of our visual identity, as well as that of our application. We are driven by our democratization perspective, and hope to make your Birdee experience as pleasant and intuitive as possible. Our teams are preparing other features for 2020, and remain at your disposal by chat, e-mail or phone in case of questions.
